I thought about doing 'proper' smocking (for about 10 seconds) and then cheated a bit by using shirring elastic. And the fabric's gingham which helps keep on line and pattern.

But it's all done by hand, took about 2 days :)
I think you look super cute in your smock. Very hip. Love the braid too.

Wow. I am embarrassed to say I've never encountered "real smocking" - now you have me running off to Google :) It looks amazing.
